Some Photographs

Venus – Jupiter – Moon conjunction with Pleiades Cluster in upper right corner.

This is the nearest we can get to a celestial ‘Smiley’. Some of you might remember seeing a smiley in the sky back around December 2008. The next time a smiley occurs will be around 2036.

Other than that, notice the round shape around the crescent Moon. It is called Earthshine, light reflected on the Moon from the Earth!

Winter Constellations : – Orion the Hunter, Gemini the Twins, Canis Major the Greater Dog, Canis Minor the Lesser Dog.

An afocal photograph of Saturn through 150x magnification. Saturn’s rings are appearing good this year – there are times where the rings are exactly perpendicular to our view and we can’t see a thing!

Near the Moon’s terminator, the boundary between sunrise and sunset on the moon, more craters could be seen due to the interaction of the light and shadows.

And finally, Scorpio and his summer friends are nudging up higher and higher each day as the summer season approaches! Summer is neat for its showcases of star clusters and other deep sky objects!

Clash of the titans

Okay, not the Saturn’s moon Titan, but the titans in terms of brightness in our night sky. This March, witness the glory of the geometry of the solar system as Jupiter and Venus gets really close from the Earth’s point of view!

The Red Haze

Some of you might think of this!

Actually, it’s not far off from the real thing.

A light pollution example in the busy city of Hong Kong.

Redefining the blog

Nothing feels better than a renovated blog :) remnants of my old blogger days haha.

With the advent of Facebook, information comes and go quickly, as you have noticed in the busy and chaotic board of the Stargazer Society's Facebook Page.

Therefore, there exists the Blog - here at http://stargazersociety.blogspot.com , the place that selects and archives what's important, what's memorable and what you will come back to visit five years later and sighing while thinking of the carefree college days.

All members are welcome to post in the Blog - if you have a great thought that you've put into writing (or even better, a video!), or if you wanna share a poem on your feelings after watching a meteor shower, or if you wanna try out in posting a revolutionary thought that you think might surpass Einstein's theories one day... just drop me or Daisuke a note and we'll gladly add you to the ranks of authors in this small blog.

And of course most importantly, now with the Facebook comment enabled, don't you be lazy to comment!

THE BIG BEGINNING

Hi guys! Long time no see!!!!
Don't know why I'm still the one who is updating this blog... since I'm updating so you guys must be patient with my broken English yeah. And also all these emoticon → ヽ(°▽、°)ノエヘヘヘヘ
(Anyone who don't like please tell me and you can in charge of this blog from that time onwards with much more proper English. OR You guys want me to write it in Japanese?) (o-艸-o)

From 2nd week of February we had started our very first module:
The Big Beginning
.
Started with recruiting new members and introduce them about Stargazer Society and ended with an Awesome(in some other means) stargazing trip last Saturday.

Oh by the way if you don't know who am I... I am daisuke (She Chee, but i guess daisuke is easier for all of you. Remember, is da-i-su-KE, not da-i-su-KI) from S1107beta.... your ex-publicity and your present Vice President ORZ

Adrian is President Victor is R&D Department Apple is Secretary Yaw Jin is Treasurer Hui Jia is Vice Secretary Arvin is publicity director.
That's all. Our committee members. (;´∀`)

Back to the topic.
The very first meeting we had some awesome 1201 people joining us, making our club bigger and funnier and nosier! ← actually is the committees who are making all those noise, i know. ==

HHMMnnnn.... since it was a month ago i can't really remember what we did... let's see...
